Not A “Cat” Tale
January 4th, 2013Author: Karen McGreeveyHave you noticed that sometimes out-of-the-blue you get a
thought about something that happened years ago?
I’m talking this time about Heidi, our German Shepard-mix dog. We got her when we were first married. And shortly before any cats came along!
One night as we were sleeping, Chuck and I were suddenly awakened by a “whooshing” sound. Heidi was at and on the foot of the bed.
Chuck said, “I think there’s a bat in the bedroom”; I peeked out from under the covers long enough to see Heidi ducking down whenever the bat whooshed by. (At that time, we lived in town in an old house, in an area with lots of trees. We figured the bat got in either through the attic or the fireplace; didn’t matter which, actually.)
Some watch dog Heidi was! Somewhere, we have a few photos of her; if I run across them I’ll post one or two. She was a beige white.
When we moved to a different neighborhood, one of the little neighbor boys across the street (3 maybe?) would come over and ask, “Can Heidi come out to play?”
Yours in remembering,
P.S.

Heidi was a Hider, not a fighter
That video in the newsletter was Hee-lair-ee-us! We laffed and laffed at the kitty whose head and tail were protruding through her “tunnel”–those girl kitties weren’t very ladylike, were they? I must say, I think I would enjoy having some snow to play in, but living in SF I just don’t think that’s going to happen (the Human is glad she doesn’t have to shovel it, that’s for sure!)
Hope 2013 is treating you all well so far! XOXOXO
You know what? I *am* very, very soft. I guess it isn’t a very ManCatly trait, but the Human says I have the softest fur of any kitty she ever had! Too bad I don’t let her pet me more!! MOL!
