When The Cat’s Away…
Friday, January 1st, 2010…the mice will play!
That’s really how that little ditty goes and it means that a
little bit of mayhem might ensue when the person in charge is out of the picture or otherwise gone from somewhere… the house, the office, the family, the…
In today’s entry, though, “when the cat’s away,” refers to how you might cope with or react to the absence of a cat or kitty who’s in the animal hospital or who’s gone visiting a boyfriend or girl friend!
You miss him! You want to see him! But he needs to be where he is. So what can you do?
Here are a few things you might try:
1. Call the vet and ask how your kitty is doing.
The office people where we take our vet are really good about checking on our kitties when they have to stay overnight. Actually, even if we leave The Boys for the day, we’ll call the vet at least twice to get an update; to see how he’s doing.
2. If you can, drive to the vet to spend a little time with your kitty. If you have no car, perhaps you can ride city transit. Perhaps a cab will get you to the vet hospital. Or, do you have a neighbor who can provide transportation for you?
3. If you find that none of those tips is doable find a photograph of your kitty–or take one–and put his photo on your desk or bedside table, or carry it around with you in your purse or billfold so you can look at him often.
In the meantime, take a look at what’s in our “Getting pretty and handsome!…” Room here at our mini-“Itty Bitty Shoppe for Kitty. That massage thing looks like it will be just the ticket for “revving up the purrrrrr” in kitty when he gets home.
Yours in keeping kitty close to your heart,
