Kitties and Beans,

I don’t know how you do it! Get photos of your kitties to post on your blog, I mean.

Case in point, Jonny is really cute when he eats, as he will put one front paw on the plate (to hold it, I suppose). So, I decided I’d get out the “new” camera and take a picture of him.

I got to the kitchen just in time to have him look up from eating, and look right at me! I took the “shot” and then reviewed the still. Jonny was not looking at me then, but rather he was facing the stove!

Good grief. So I tried again and this time I got a shot of him walking away, even though I know he was not walking away when I pushed the button.

Of course, “candid shots” are nice, but needless to say, I deleted all of those because they were not “postable”. I’ll keep trying, though.

You may remember that I’ve commented before about Mikey and his ritual for getting a drink.

He rarely drinks from the water dish; he has to get his drink from the bathtub faucet. In fact, he seems to be getting more obsessive about it.

It used to be, Mikey would run get in the tub and wait for his drink, while we would be getting ready for bed. (Of course, we’d see him and turn on the faucet.)

But now, he makes a beeline for the stairs anytime he sees one of us gets up…no matter why we get up!

And invariably, if there is anytime when we can’t find Mikey, if we go upstairs and look in the bathtub, he’ll be sitting there, under the faucet, waiting for us to turn on the faucet for him to get a drink!

So now, Billy has apparently decided he wants to get his drink from the bathtub faucet, too.

Only, he does not sit under the faucet; instead, Billy will sit on the tub ledge, lean over, and stick his head under the faucet, turn his head side-ways and drink that way.

Buzz, buzz.

Yep, there’s a fly in the house.

If we didn’t know it before, we know it now. As “The Boys” are taking turns chasing it around the house.

These 13 year old kitties all of a sudden are showing more life in them than they did in the last six years!

But what fun for them!

Poor fly won’t have a chance, particularly when Mikey goes dive- bomber airborne!

P.S. So what do you do when a fly comes by!?

Maybe these little kitties have too much time on their paws, and need a different, less dangerous for us, more sedate diversion like this.

This only works if you have at least two kitties.

Recently, I’ve been paying more attention to the way “The Boys” come to the table (figuratively) to eat.

For instance, each of “The Boys” gets his own plate of food. So when I put down their food, I try to put “The Boys” in separate areas of the kitchen.

Sometimes, I’ll even put one of the plates of food in the dining room. This way, they all have plenty of room to eat.

What I’ve noticed, though, is that as they begin to eat if one of them starts to eat, and then decides he doesn’t like what he is given, he will leave.

Then so will another one. And finally, they all may leave; without the other two having even tasted the food!

Mikey and Billy are notorious for this!

On the other hand, they will also “taste test” and trade plates, too…go from plate to plate to see whether the others are getting something he isn’t.

It used to be that Jonny would come along and clean up what the others left; but anymore, I can’t count on him so much for that!

We’ve learned that HomeAgainPetRescuers, a group dedicated to reuniting lost pets with their pet parents, needs your help!

They “recently launched a campaign to help increase awareness on July 4th Pet Safety.

Did you know that despite all the fun and fireworks, July 4th is the day that the most pets go missing?

HAPR says, “Our goal is to spread awareness through our “Not Lost On You” Social Media  campaign and get responsible pet parents to take our pet protection pledge and quiz.

The pledge symbolizes their knowledge that this day requires extra diligence and a quiz tests users on their pet safety smarts. Twitter users can take the pledge too by using the hashtag #NLOY in any related tweets.

So how can you help?

1.  Take the pledge yourself on Facebook and/or Tweet using the #NLOY hash tag.
2.  Share this information with your readers and encourage them to get involved.
3. Embed banners on your blog or website to show support. They’re available for  download here.

Anything you can do to help spread the word is appreciated not only by the HomeAgainPetRescuers, but all four-legged friends. Together we can make sure that Pet Safety is Not Lost On as many people as possible, this July 4th.

Ever have one of those nights when you go to get into bed and there is no room for you?

As in, for me, Mikey had already dug his “little hole” in the blankets at the foot of the bed.

Billy was planted in the middle of the bed, taking a bath, and Bowie was taking up space sprawled on the pillow!

Which is usually Billy’s!

And Jonny was on the window seat right beside the bed, eye-ing me trying to figure out how I was going to get into bed!

Without moving all that fur.

Or maybe he was wondering who he could move out so he could pile onto the bed, too?

It’s Remembrance Weekend

“The Boys” and I weren’t around the Cat Blogosphere in 2007 when a lot of the Cats and their Humans originally got together to remember their many furriends that had gone to the Rainbow Bridge.

We learned yesterday, when we visited Sweet Praline’s blog, that the “Three Tabby Cats in Vienna – Kashim, Othello and Salome – are again getting the Cat Blogosphere gang together to light candles to remember our furriends who left us way too soon.
