The Masterful Stare

Monday, May 14th, 2012

I was fortunate to get this shot of Billy, particularly since he’s looking right at me.

In fact, his “signature (blank?) stare” is a bit disconcerting.

Sometimes we have a game to see who can stare the longest before the other one looks away!

Yours in looking at you,

and “The Boys”

P.S. What sort of crazy looks do you give your human?

P.P.S. That’s Jonny in the background, on the upper right, looking at Billy and me.

Bowie, Dear

Monday, May 7th, 2012

My how time flies,” as they say.

Today, May 7, is one whole year since our little Bowie unexpectedly passed away.

3/23/1998 – 5/7/2011

Of course, I remember him fondly, and some days “not so fondly” as he could at times be the terror of all terrors! But then we loved him all the more.

He came to us from the same breeder who had the rest of our kitty lovers; only his story was a tiny bit different. In his very short life (8 weeks when we got him–which was really a little early to leave the momma), he had already been in another home. Not counting the breeder’s.

Bowie was the grandson of the father of “The Boys”‘; they (Jonny, Mikey, Daniel, Cody and Billy) all had the same father and different mothers. Well, Mikey and Daniel were “twins” so they had the same mother.

He came to us about 6 months after the other five were already pretty well “established” in our home. He first had been sent to live with a woman who already had a cat and a dog. As we learned, apparently since he was the “new ‘kit’ on the block” the others were not too happy with the new boarder!

So that lady gave him back to the breeder, who then contacted us to see if we would be interested in giving him a home.

We were and we did!

We also came to learn that he was a “sick little thing”; having developed breathing problems (which seemed like “out of the blue” about 2 months after we got him. So he had daily “puffs” of Advair and Pro-Air to help him breathe. And many years later, the Vet discovered a mass in his abdomen that by then was too large and too late to do anything about.

We all loved him “this big” and shared lots of joy throughout his 13 years!

Yours in missing you, Bowie,

and “The Boys”

It’s No Fun to be Ignored!

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

Many’s the time I find Billy being naughty; he’s a super, duper kitty snooper and loves to stick his nose into just about anything.

And when I catch him at it, he ignores me!

Even if I say his name, and “stop it” or “don’t do that,” or “get out of there”!

Sometimes, though, he will turn around, look at me and then continue with his investigating.

Billy particularly likes to gnaw on anything plastic: plastic sacks, those hard plastic covers that electronics are packaged in; or packages of bar soap; he especially likes toilet paper packages.

Yours in getting Billy’s attention,

and “The Boys”

P.S. So, kitties, what do you do to ignore your human?

Hold ‘er right there, Newt!

Mmmm, mmmmmm, good!

Several months ago, “The Boys” got a free invite from Mr. Chewy to check out their site and to use a coupon they so generously supplied.

However, because we all were involved with other things at the time Chuck passed away, I did not take Mr. Chewy up on their offer.

Until recently, when “The Boys” said it was about time I checked into it; I did and as you can see from the photo of Jonny, he was mighty glad I did.

Look closely, and you can see he is “holding the plate down” with his right, front paw, so it does not get away from him until he has licked the plate clean.

He has made short work of a good-sized helping of Weruva Chicken In Gravy canned cat food! They all love it!

Yours in paw-licking good food,

and “The Boys”

Tell Me A Story

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

“A picture’s worth a thousand words”, as they say. So since this is Wordless Wednesday, I’ll let this photo “speak volumes”!

Yours in telling the story Thursday,

and “The Boys”

P.S. The photo is of Mikey, finishing up some stinky goodness!

It also shows that “the Mom” needs more practice with the camera.

Tummy Tuck – Cody

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

Today is “Wordless Wednesday” around the Cat-Net!

So “The Boys” and I thought we’d get in on the “activity” and post our choice for “wordless” > >.

Except when one looks like all that >>> cuteness, it’s hard not to say a word or two!

This is Cody >>> shortly after he came to live with us. (The photo is marked “at six months”, but I think that’s incorrect; he looks smaller than six months.)

Yours in loving on baby pictures,

and “The Boys”

P.S. So, what baby picture would you post?

Can I Get Your Attention?

Saturday, March 3rd, 2012

That’s what Mikey keeps saying to me each day, and it seems (to hear him tell it), I’m not paying attention.

He’s incorrigible.

Some days, it’s really hard trying to figure out what he wants. Other days, he’s a “little angel” who sleeps the day away.

To his credit, Mikey has discovered that the best way to “get my attention” is to jump up onto my lap (as he’s done in the photo), and then put his head on the keyboard!

Yours in heads in the way,

and “The Boys”

Feeling Neglected

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

“The Boys” have let me know in no uncertain “meows” that they are a bit disappointed with me.

So now they are ignoring me! >>

It seems I’m not posting to their blog regularly enough to suit them; they are feeling neglected. (They are right!)

This came to light, in particular, this morning when I sat down at my keyboard and found a morsel of Meow Mix crunchie dry food in the “F” keys!

I wonder which one that might have been; my bet’s on Mikey!

Yours in upping the tender, loving care,

and “The Boys”

P.S. Alas, I neglected to whip out my camera to take a photo to offer as proof!

Note: In the photo above, I have tried my first-ever hand at “cropping” a photo; needless to say I need to practice some more as it is sorely lacking! And makes Jonny (in the middle) look like he’s got an odd-shaped head.

A Whole Lotta Softness

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

Mikey’s looking at me taking his picture!

Yours in peeking,

and “The Boys”

P.S. What green eyes you have, Mikey!

I Want To See…

Monday, February 6th, 2012

I’ve said numerous times that Mikey likes to sit on my lap in order to try get my attention away from what I’m doing on the computer.

Often, he will “sit up” to watch what I’m doing.

This morning, though, Mikey climbed onto my lap, lay down and then put his head on the keyboard (as shown in the photo), stretching his neck.

Unfortunately, you can’t see too well what he’s doing…other than his head is partly on the keyboard.

It’s almost like he was too tired to hold his head up so used the keyboard as a “head holder”.

Sometimes when he will do this, he will put his head on my fingers so I can’t type!

Yours in watching the “mouse”,

and “The Boys”

P.S. Needless to say, he did catch my attention.
