The Face of Innocence?

Tuesday, October 16th, 2012

Hardly! It’s Mikey people!

He “broke down” the “baby gate” to get to become a juvenile delinquent! Okay, that’s somewhat extreme. Or rather, you decide.

We do not have a door leading from our kitchen to the basement, so we have used one (flattened) end of a very large box to cover the doorway–halfway up the door opening.

It’s our “baby gate”, fashioned to keep “The Boys” from getting to the basement. We also put something heavy by the gate to keep the cardboard in place.

When it’s done right, it works.

Friday, after running several errands, I walked in the back door and just happened to look down the steps to the basement.

There was Mikey (Mr. Innocence himself) at the bottom of the steps looking up and me looking at him! He had a bit of a spider web hanging from his whiskers.

Only he knows how long he had been down there. Or what he had gotten into.

The “baby gate” clearly wasn’t closed, as I could then see, as I had definitely neglected to put the “weight” in front of the cardboard to keep it in place.

Bet you know the moral of this story!

Sometimes They Just Entertain Themselves

Friday, December 31st, 2010

We made it through Christmas, and now “the Boys” are getting ready for the New Year. We can hear them running around upstairs! Nothing like the patter of 16 little feet! There’s been an awful lot of thumping going on, too!

I suppose I’ll have to go check on them soon. I imagine they’re playing tag…or something…until I get up there.

Once I’m upstairs, though, all will be quiet and it will turn into a game of “hide and seek”!

With me doing the seeking!

Yours in playing hide and seek,

and “The Boys”

P.S. So how about it? Are you looking forward to the New Year?

Keeping Our Kitties Cool

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

I read an article in the paper this week about a “woofie” that had died because his owner had left him unattended in a hot car for hours.

Apparently, according to the owner, the dog liked to ride in the car and would often get into the car and not want to get out. Even long after the trip was over!

It got me to thinking about our “Boys”–and even the little fur friends of any of us–now that it’s starting to get hot around here. We had 92 on Monday–which in some areas is considered quite cool–but for us it was such a drastic change. Particularly, since one day we had 50 the next day 92!

“The Boys” love to be on our front porch.

But we do have to watch them because if we don’t once they get on the porch, they will be content to be out there all day–or until a stranger someone comes to the door.

And being out there with all the windows and screens and an afternoon west sun, and all their Persian hair can make for a very hot porch–even if the windows are open!

So I check on the guys about every 5-8-10 minutes.

And in between, we do leave the front door into the house open enough so they can just come in if they got the notion before I got to them.

We are also not above telling them “no” they can’t go out! Not that they listen that much, though.

If I Didn’t Have A Cat…

I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

Comfy Kitty

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Perhaps they will not even notice you..

Yours in cozy kitties,

Your kitty looks so pretty

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

If you’ve been following our posts here the last few days, you know we’ve been “talking about” some of the things your kitty needs in order for her to grow “big and tall” (well, maybe not so tall) and develop into a really well-adjusted healthy and happy kitty!

Aside from any “yummy vittles” they might get and the “toys and things” they learn to toss around, they also need to look good!

This means, your kitty ought to have a bit of regular grooming time.

Now grooming to one might be something else to another, but in general, kitty needs to “feel pampered.”

Think of how good you felt the last time you had your nails done or went to a masseuse. Well, your kitty will radiate a good feeling, too, and give you back the love.

When a kitty has long-hair, make it a point to comb the hair daily. Some will even suggest that kitty gets a bath from time to time.

When your kitty has short-hair, it’s easier to see whether she has fleas or other parasites. So the combing and bathing do help you see those so you can quickly remove them from your kitty as well as your your belongings and carpets.

If you can manage it, regular tooth brushing for your kitty is also a good practice for your kitty’s hygiene routine.

Yours in keeping your kitty in good health,

Molly Meow

In case you didn’t get our last week’s issue of “The Cat’s Meow,” I’m repeating some news about a fun new product we thought you’d might like…

Molly Meow’s revolutionary duvet and “stuff sack” make creating and maintaining a stylish, comfortable and clean pet bed easier – and much more environmentally-friendly and less costly – than ever before.

Cat-O-Lympics Winding Down

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

The Cat-O-Lympics, which began what seems like so long ago (Monday), is now winding down.

We managed to get a “Gold Medal” for display purposes. In case you didn’t see it, here it is:

This has been a fun event and it’s certainly kept “The Boys” busy making the rounds to the sites of their furrriends.

In fact, we’re sure hoping Fin does this again next year. We’re looking for the sign-up list now so we can sponsor an event next year.

If you’ve just found us, you can catch up on this Cat-O-Lympics stuff by reading here, here, here and

Yours in Cat-O-Lympics-ing,”

P.S. Do come back regularly. And as soon as we know the winners of each of the contests, we’ll post them here.

Tip #4 for Managing the Litter Box

Monday, February 1st, 2010

If you’ve been coming here regularly, you know for the last funny-pictures-mom-cat-is-angry-at-you three days we’ve been discussing some tips you might use to manage your cat litter box. In case you want to refer back to them, you can find them here, here and here.

And now here’s #4.

4. Take kitty out of the box
When you’re cleaning the box, you will notice you have a helper who may or may not add to your box cleaning experience. So much so, you may have to take kitty out of the litter box a number of times.

Use a covered litter box
Kitties, too, like privacy when they do Lifelike Mature Large Cat Tree Houses
their bathroom duties so you might want to consider a kitty box with a lid/cover. Such a box does make it a bit cumbersome to clean, but it does help to give kitty some privacy.

In addition, some such boxes come with a filter area with a place where you can add a filter pad, which helps to mask or get rid of some of the odor. This also helps to keep the air around the box fresher.

If you do use a covered litter box, however, be sure to get one that’s large enough to give kitty enough room to move around in in order to get his business done without leaving some of “his business” on his back-end. (Experienced teacher here!)

We’ll finish up this series with Tip #5 tomorrow. So stop back here to get the end of the story!
