Loafing – Pink Feets

Friday, September 30th, 2011

Many times, a “picture’s worth a thousand words”; this is one of those times!

Or, maybe not!

P.P.S. So, kitties, what have you got planned for the weekend?

While the People’s Away

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

Chuck and I were unexpectedly gone from home last Friday day, all night, and returned home Saturday at noon.

This means that maybe for the first time ever, “The Boys” were “home alone” for over 24 hours.

Now, I know a lot of people leave their kitties alone for more than 24 hours; it just happened to be our first experience (well, that I recall).

When we left on Friday, we expected to return by about 3:30 that afternoon, so we did not leave extra wet food out for them. Nor did they have fresh water, although there was water. And they had a fair amount of dry food on their plates. Their boxes were also spic and span!

Since they’re senior cats, I suppose they spent most of their day sleeping.

Although at some point, they may also have been wondering when they would be getting their next meal.

When we got home on Saturday, we felt the house did not seem to have been kitty-ransacked.

Billy climbed up onto my lap as soon as I sat down, Jonny wanted on the porch, and Mikey was ready to watch my mouse!

P.S. So what does your cat do when you’re away?

P.P.S. I’ve finally got my printer/scanner connected to my new computer, so now I’ll be able to post some “new”/old photos.

There’s No Room For Me

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Ever have one of those nights when you go to get into bed and there is no room for you?

As in, for me, Mikey had already dug his “little hole” in the blankets at the foot of the bed.

Billy was planted in the middle of the bed, taking a bath, and Bowie was taking up space sprawled on the pillow!

Which is usually Billy’s!

And Jonny was on the window seat right beside the bed, eye-ing me trying to figure out how I was going to get into bed!

Without moving all that fur.

Or maybe he was wondering who he could move out so he could pile onto the bed, too?

P.S. Of course, I am the human and I know I am in control and can set the rules as to who sleeps where.

P.P.S. What kind of night-time takeover happens with your kitty?

Do I Look Like A Magnet?

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

When we first got Billy, the breeder who had him informed us that Billy was a “lap sitter.” “He loves to sit on laps,” she said.

This suited me just fine because I have a mighty fine lap and because I love to put it to good use for kitties! However, that dream lasted all of maybe a year…until he grew up!

And then he was just “too busy” to spend his time sitting on my lap.

Fast-forward about 13 years; I now have my lap cat. In fact, Billy is so much of a lap cat that I can’t seem to sit anywhere for more than a second or two (at most) without having him climbing up, walking around in circles, on my lap, and then finally plopping down to look up at me and then settling down for some serious sleep.

I love it.

Now if I get up to go to the kitchen or upstairs, or to do something else, he’ll get up, look somewhat bewildered (like why am I messing with his lap time?) and then sit in “my couch space,” waiting for my return.

At which time, he will find his way back onto my lap!

Sometimes, I’ve gotten up three and four times in about an hour’s time and he’s right back on my lap at the first sign I’m settled.

P.S. Maybe he’d like one of these instead. How about you and your kitty…what stories do you have to tell about nap time?

Cat-O-Lympics Begins Today

Monday, February 15th, 2010

We just found out that Fin is hosting a Cat-O-Lympics all this coming week, starting today.

Since we’re not exactly sure what we can do that won’t get us into trouble with the grown-ups around here, we may just limit our participation to getting the word out about the event.

On the other hand, if we get real rambunctious, and creative, we’ll see if we can toss our paws into the mix and do something to talk about.

So, stop back here every day to see what’s happening.

Yours in watching the Cat-O-Lympics,

P.S. We spend a lot of time just practicing. If you do, too, you might find this to be of interest.
