Mr. Chewy Give-Away

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

If you somehow missed reading our latest issue of “Mews Nooz”, you do not know that “The Boys” and I received a goodly supply (like a case) of “Weruva Chicken in Gravy” and quite a few packages of “PureBites” treats for kitties from Mr. Chewy. (We were given a very generous coupon.) We also know many of our kitty friends also were gifted from Mr. Chewy.

Since “The Boys” like these so much, we have decided we’d like to “spread the stinky goodness” around. So, if you’d like a can of “Weruva Chicken in Gravy” or a package of “PureBites” treats, let us know by sending your name and mailing address in an email to me at karen @ kittensandmittensandthings.com. (Leave out the spaces.)

You can specify whether you’d like the can of cat food or the PureBites.

I will send these to you for free for as long as our supplies last. If I receive your email after supplies are gone, I will let you know the goodies are no longer available.

In case you don’t know about Weruva Chicken Gravy, just take a look at Jonny. He’s loving that food so much, he holds the plate down so he can get every last bite.

Yours in paw lickin’ good,

and “The Boys”

Tell Me A Story

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

“A picture’s worth a thousand words”, as they say. So since this is Wordless Wednesday, I’ll let this photo “speak volumes”!

Yours in telling the story Thursday,

and “The Boys”

P.S. The photo is of Mikey, finishing up some stinky goodness!

It also shows that “the Mom” needs more practice with the camera.

Feeling Neglected

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

“The Boys” have let me know in no uncertain “meows” that they are a bit disappointed with me.

So now they are ignoring me! >>

It seems I’m not posting to their blog regularly enough to suit them; they are feeling neglected. (They are right!)

This came to light, in particular, this morning when I sat down at my keyboard and found a morsel of Meow Mix crunchie dry food in the “F” keys!

I wonder which one that might have been; my bet’s on Mikey!

Yours in upping the tender, loving care,

and “The Boys”

P.S. Alas, I neglected to whip out my camera to take a photo to offer as proof!

Note: In the photo above, I have tried my first-ever hand at “cropping” a photo; needless to say I need to practice some more as it is sorely lacking! And makes Jonny (in the middle) look like he’s got an odd-shaped head.

A Whole Lotta Softness

Mikey’s looking at me taking his picture!

Yours in peeking,

and “The Boys”

P.S. What green eyes you have, Mikey!

I Want To See…

Monday, February 6th, 2012

I’ve said numerous times that Mikey likes to sit on my lap in order to try get my attention away from what I’m doing on the computer.

Often, he will “sit up” to watch what I’m doing.

This morning, though, Mikey climbed onto my lap, lay down and then put his head on the keyboard (as shown in the photo), stretching his neck.

Unfortunately, you can’t see too well what he’s doing…other than his head is partly on the keyboard.

It’s almost like he was too tired to hold his head up so used the keyboard as a “head holder”.

Sometimes when he will do this, he will put his head on my fingers so I can’t type!

Yours in watching the “mouse”,

and “The Boys”

P.S. Needless to say, he did catch my attention.

No Matter What, Look the Other Way

Sunday, January 22nd, 2012

So here it is Sunday afternoon, and nobody pays any attention to
me!

As you can see, they’re all balls of fur, looking the other way, lost in thought.

This was supposed to be one of those “lazy Sunday afternoon” shots, and I suppose it is in some ways.

Although after looking at the result, it reminds me there are a couple things I ought to be doing besides snapping this photo.

Yours in lazy Sundays,

and “The Boys”

P.S. We hope you’re having a lazy Sunday afternoon, too!

He’s Working on “Monster”

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

That’s Mikey; “Monster” Extraordinaire!

This “wild child kitty” has been giving us all grief this morning. Running and jumping and chasing and ducking down hidey holes.

I think he’s got a bit too much energy to burn!

He even wanted out on the front porch so, he thought, he could watch the latest in bird TV. (They are nowhere in sight; they’re tucked in warm somewhere!)

Although I knew it was way too cold for Mikey to go out there, I opened the door and out he went. He “took a turn around” the inside of the porch, almost going up to the outside door, lifted up his front paw ’cause it got cold, and then scurried back in.

Even though the sun is out, we did have 3 degrees below zero last night and it has not yet warmed up all that much.

And so Mikey is now rethinking that going outside on the porch thing, as he’s finally settling down to take a nap…bath comes first, though!

Yours in taming the monsters,

and “The Boys”

P.S. I think I ought to send Mikey off to Amazon to see if he can find some new toys to play with. He needs a diversion of some sort.

Jump On, Jump Off!

Monday, January 16th, 2012

I don’t suppose you can guess who I’m talking about in the “jump on, jump off” title above.

It’s Mikey…when he’s doing his best imitation of wanting me to get up in the morning to feed him.

He jumps onto the bed, “says a few words”, then jumps off. Over and over.

He is relentless, too. Until I get up.

Yours in getting up before my time,

and “The Boys”

P.S. Maybe I ought to get him a diversion; several of these Springs toys.

Can You Hear that Big Sigh?

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

That’s Mikey…after his “horrible” trip to the Vet yesterday.

Since we discovered last week that Billy had a stone in his bladder, we decided we’d better get Mikey to the Vet to be checked out, too, for good measure.

Well, it happened yesterday.

And I don’t know who it was harder on him or me…I’m saying me! From the minute I put Mikey into the car (after I scooped him up and coaxed him into the carrier), Mikey howled!

And he howled and he howled! (I don’t mean “meow” either!) You’d have thought I was being cruel to him or something. As I drove, I’d look into the carrier. He had stuffed himself into the back of the carrier, was curled into a ball and was peeking at me out of one eye. (The other eye was covered by his tail.)

I’d talk to him to reassure him he was all right, and he’d howl some more. I was just about ready to turn around and go home but realized if I did he’d have manipulated me once again. (He’s a cat!)

So I kept driving!

As soon as I go to the Vet, Mikey got real silent. And throughout the whole examination, the taking of blood and giving him his rabies shot, he did not “say” anything.

In fact, for the whole trip home I got the “silent treatment”.

We did get real good results on the blood work, and except for his heart murmur, he’s a soon to be 14 (July 1l) year old kitty in really good health.

Yours in no more trips to the vet,

and “The Boys”

P.S. Chantal Williams has put together a little book, Cat Health Secrets that might be of help to us…and there might be something in there to benefit you, as well!

“The Boys” Are Getting Antsy!

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011

If the weatherman ever makes up his mind, we might be able to have a couple of “nice days” in a row.

As it is, “The Boys” are getting antsy as they want to spend more time on the front porch.

A couple of days ago, they got their wish when the temperature outside hit 72 F. So when I opened the door, they all piled out there. Lickety split!

That lasted for all of 30 minutes or so…and then slowly they made their way back into the house.

The next day, then, the temp only got to 35 F…so we were all “brrring”, and stayed inside. Particularly, since the wind came up a bit and was blowing Mikey’s fur around quite a bit. (We had opened a couple of the windows on the porch the day before when it had been so nice.)

Now, when Chuck or I go to the door, Mikey wants to go along–to check out the porch happenings. But, once he’s out there he wants right back in. (He should have been a kid! Oh wait…he sort of is!)

Yours in Mikey finally making up his mind,

and “The Boys”

P.S. How is your kitty or woofie faring in “gotta be inside” – no, make that “outside” department? Or maybe yours just doesn’t care!

In the meantime, we'll continue to look for alternatives.
