Kitties, listen up…

Last week, Wednesday, the 10th, to be exact, I wrote about the “end days” of the Friskies “create a video” contest.

Today is the “end date”–so if you’re making a video you’d better get a move on.

And let us know, as “The Boys” and I are eager to see you in the movies!

The Idle Cat Mind

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

snowflakce-caught-small As many of you can attest, the kitty, for some reason or other, no matter how much you love him or her, can sometimes “get on your very last nerve”!

We particularly noticed it with Snowflake–and now, of course, with Mikey. And sometimes, even Billy.

Cats seem to have a “one-track mind”!

For Snowflake, it was if anything was in her way she’d knock it off, tip it over or step through it to get to where she wanted to go. Mikey will mostly voice his opinion about stuff at the top of his lungs, while Billy will “pick” and “slink”.

The end result for all three, cat-like, is they sometimes leave some sort of destruction in their wake. (more…)

Food Watchers and Taste Testers

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

This only works if you have at least two kitties.funny pictures of cats with captions

Recently, I’ve been paying more attention to the way “The Boys” come to the table (figuratively) to eat.

For instance, each of “The Boys” gets his own plate of food. So when I put down their food, I try to put “The Boys” in separate areas of the kitchen.

Sometimes, I’ll even put one of the plates of food in the dining room. This way, they all have plenty of room to eat.

What I’ve noticed, though, is that as they begin to eat if one of them starts to eat, and then decides he doesn’t like what he is given, he will leave.

Then so will another one. And finally, they all may leave; without the other two having even tasted the food!

Mikey and Billy are notorious for this!

On the other hand, they will also “taste test” and trade plates, too…go from plate to plate to see whether the others are getting something he isn’t.

It used to be that Jonny would come along and clean up what the others left; but anymore, I can’t count on him so much for that!

A Blast From the Past

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

Roaming around the Internet this last week looking for Cat-O-Lympics events, we never saw anything like the “Whack-A-Mole” video we’ve seen now-and-then at Youtube.

It got us to thinking we had a photo sort of like that somewhere…and lo and behold, we found this after a bit of looking…

Of course, it’s not exactly “Whack-A-Mole,” more like “What-A-Cat!” **

Jonny I is sitting outside the basket, looking somewhat smug, don’t you think?

And Snowflake is inside! She may be hiding (although she’s not doing a very good job of it since her ears are showing), or she may have just been “whacked” by Jonny I.

We don’t really know. It does make for a bit of a cute picture, though…well, except for the poor lighting/coloring.

Yours in playing “Whack-A-Cat,”

P.S. Jonny I and Snowflake were in our “first cat family,” along with Muffy and Scooter. All of whom left to walk over the Rainbow Bridge.

P.P.S. Note to PETA: No kitties were harmed in this photo; before or after the shoot. For our purposes, Whack-A-Cat is a figure of speech.

Cat-O-Lympics Winding Down

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

The Cat-O-Lympics, which began what seems like so long ago (Monday), is now winding down.

We managed to get a “Gold Medal” for display purposes. In case you didn’t see it, here it is:

This has been a fun event and it’s certainly kept “The Boys” busy making the rounds to the sites of their furrriends.

In fact, we’re sure hoping Fin does this again next year. We’re looking for the sign-up list now so we can sponsor an event next year.

If you’ve just found us, you can catch up on this Cat-O-Lympics stuff by reading here, here, here and

Yours in Cat-O-Lympics-ing,”

P.S. Do come back regularly. And as soon as we know the winners of each of the contests, we’ll post them here.

What Is That Noise?

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Sitting at the computer one morning not so long ago with Mikey on the couch beside me and Jonny Cat in the chair at the table across from me, they were both busily getting in some extra “zzzzzz’s,” after a late night on the porch…not to be confused with a night “on the town!

We have a closed-in/screened-in front porch that they just love–because they can see all that’s happening in the neighborhood; who walks by, what little kitties and other critters are running across the yard, down the street, and around the neighborhood.

So here I was that morning, going through my email when I began to hear this strange, steady sounding, noise.

What is that noise?

After a few minutes of checking around the room, trying to figure it catnap_small2 out, it finally occurred to me I’d spend a bit of time paying attention to “The Boys!”

Sure enough–Jonny was the culprit! He was–snoring! And thankfully he was not on my computer keyboard.

Yours in trying to figure out the origin of strange noises,
